Nativity relocates, focuses on gays' needs
During the course of events in the past 2 or 3 months, Nativity Fellowship Church has focused its goals on more viable means for meeting the needs of the gay community. While Nativity Fellowship has always adopted an open approach to the spiritual needs of every member of society without regard for race, color, creed, gender, or sexual preference, it has also unveiled some needs heretofore unseen.
Under the cooperative leadership of Jacks Sowers and Pete Lader, and the able guidance of the Church Board, two special needs have arisen. The over-all, cross-sectional ecumenical nature of the Congregation calls for reaching out to those whose religious background experience has formerly been with "high church" liturgy. To meet this need, Pete Lader has been added to the pastoral staff. Jack Sowers has been conducting services of a more evangelistic nature, which touch the lifestyle of another segment of the community. These combined efforts have proved significant.
Furthermore, through their recent relocation, the church is now at the hub of community needs. All roads lead to Nativity Fellowshp Church...and that's no figure of speech! Located at 9313
Madison Avenue, opposite Revco Drugs, the church has ample parking, continuous use and availability of the building, and seating capacity in which to grow. Most of the present congregation are situated within 10 minutes driving time from this location. Yet access by way of Interstate 90 from the West Boulevard exit to the west or the West 85th Street (Lorain Avenue) exit to the east make reaching the church from suburban areas almost as easy as going to a neighborhood church.
The hour of worship, still set at 2:00 PM has not been changed in order to avoid the confusion which would arise from too much change too quickly.
Weekly Bible studies in the Gospel of Mark, led by a lay teacher, with prayer service, and a Saturday night coffeehouse rap, during which a number of spiritual and social alternatives are available, have been provided as a growing demand has been
seen.
Many who have been seeking a real "home-y" church and a .eal spiritual family have found just that at Nativity Fellowship. Thosee who are seeking a family of faith, and a source of spiritual fulfillment and outreach, should call 216-781-4074 or 216-6137574 to get more information.
